CHAPTER 21 · BOTH EDITIONS

Messaging starts with permission

Keep a simple record of what someone agreed to receive and where. Rules differ by location and channel; check official guidance and your platform's policies before launching a campaign.

Put it to work

  1. Record the channel, purpose, time, consent wording or other applicable basis, and the evidence location. Do not treat a purchased list as permission.
  2. Make stopping easy and honor it across the relevant system. Check your suppression list before any scheduled message.
  3. For WhatsApp, use the official Business setup path, verify business details, set a clear profile and support hours, and test with a consenting contact. Platform/API messaging has additional policy and template requirements.
